Above is Broadway 1936 painted by Mark Tobey. This along with many of his other painted are all influenced and inspire by New York City. Broadway was not one of his most famous paintings, but one of many people's favorites. This one picture was inspired by Times Square. You can see all of it, including cars driving by, and little people, along with the city streets and lights.
I have never seen this painting before today, but I really like and might have to say that it is one of my favorites. The colors that Tobey use are subtle yet very bright. Every stroke of paint just flows together, yet you can still see that it is Times Square.
